How to Use the Ecoegg Laundry Egg
I thought this topic is worth blogging about especially for first time users and those who want to know how to use the Ecoegg Laundry Egg.
These step by step instructions will help show you how simple it is to use the laundry egg. This can also be found in the ‘Directions for Use’ leaflet (in the box) when you buy this product.
Personally, we are using the Fresh Linen fragrance Ecoegg (blue egg). See image below.
Since late 2019, Ecoegg UK has stopped manufacturing and supplying us the 720 washes and around mid to late 2020, the 210 washes was stopped as well. Ecoegg UK has decided to ONLY manufacture and supply us the 70 washes range from now on.
Unfortunately we have sold out of the 210 washes are only selling the 70 washes range in our store.
Now, are you ready to learn how to use the Ecoegg laundry egg?
Let's get to it.
What’s in the box?

1. A very detailed instruction leaflet on how to fill and use your Ecoegg 2. An empty recyclable plastic egg (colour is depending on the fragrance you choose) 3. 2 x packets of white mineral pellets 4. 1 x packet of dark coloured tourmaline ceramic pellets |
How to fill your Ecoegg for the first time
Step 1

To open the egg, grip each half. Push the button in and twist the bottom half in the opposite direction of the arrow until the two triangles line up. |
Step 2
Separate the two halves of the egg.
Step 3
Stand the larger (more pointed) half of the Ecoegg on a flat surface and empty 2 x packs of the white mineral pellets and the one pack of dark coloured tourmaline pellets into it.
Step 4
Place the smaller half back on top of the larger half, lining up the triangles so that they are pointing at each other. Twist together in the direction of the arrow, until the triangle is now lined up with the dot and you hear and feel the button clicking into place.
Step 5
Ensure the Ecoegg is fixed firmly back together before use, with the button located in place and the bottom triangle facing the ‘dot’.
Step 6
Simply pop your laundry egg into your machine and run your wash cycle.

Refilling your Ecoegg

|
You will need to top up the white mineral pellets (1 packet at a time) after approximately each 70 washes (approximately every 2 months – depending how often you wash). A good estimate is when you notice the pellets have shrunk half their size then you know it’s a good time to top up. The dark coloured tourmaline pellets last more than 70 washes and do not require refilling.
If you find that your dark tourmaline pellets have run out, you can buy them separately here.
Using your Ecoegg
Detailed instructions can be read from the leaflet provided but I thought this is worth repeating. The Ecoegg needs sufficient water to work so it is best not to use a reduced water setting on your washing machine. I wanted to experiment so I tried putting on Eco wash but it doesn’t clean as well. So please follow the instructions on the leaflet. When I did not use the reduced water setting, I found that the laundry egg works very well indeed.
Another one worth mentioning is DO NOT OVERLOAD the machine. The Ecoegg requires room to circulate in the drum. Fill your laundry about 3/4 of the way and leave about 1/4 of room for the laundry egg – as a guide.
If you want extra fragrance on your clothes, I used 5-7 drops of pure essential oil in the ‘fabric conditioner compartment’ (Lemon/Orange/Tea Tree/ Eucalyptus/Lavender) and it is really quite aromatic.
I found my clothes to be brighter too since using the Ecoegg laundry egg and I am still amazed how well it cleans my clothes.
Although the laundry egg does general everyday cleaning well, but for tougher stains, I suggest using an eco-friendly stain remover first before the actual wash. Follow the instructions of your stain remover if you have one and wash as normal with your laundry egg.
